Championship Vinyl: Week Of 12/18/11 - 12/25/11

It's been a while since I've made a Championship Vinyl post. Bought some new cds this week so, lets get back to it. Only got about 8 tracks deep on the Common album, so far, it's cool. No regrets there. Couple of nice tracks. Haven't listened to the Pac Div album yet either. I bought it because I was in Zia Records and I was like "Oh shit! They dropped an official album?" and I had to buy it. I love Pac Div (see Sealed For Freshness). By far my favorite purchase of the week is K.Flay's self titled EP. It was literally the best $5 I've spent. I'd say it's a must buy.

Common - Ghetto Dreams ft. Nas (Prod. By No I.D.)

This track is amazing. I never thought I'd hear Nas rap like this again. Had me feeling like "What year is this?" This will be off of Common's upcoming album "The Dreamer, The Believer" which was originally suppose to drop in June, but is now scheduled for a November release date. The best part, Nas gave it away via his SoundCloud.

Sly Fox Strikes Again... (Video x Article)

Well, well, well, if "Sly Fox" isn't at it again. Fox News is no stranger to bashing hip hop and this time, they're latest target is beloved Chicago emcee, Common. Because when you think of Common you think, "Oh yeah, that's a controversial rapper." All of the fuss is being caused by Michelle Obama's decision to invite Common to perform during Poetry Night at the White House in front of students. Fox News even went so far as to call Common "vile". The source material that has been used against Common is his poem "A Letter To The Law" performed on Def Poetry in 2004.
