The 5th entry (I didn't post the 4th entry on TOTR because I felt it was a miss) from Mickey Factz who has been dropping a song a day for the past 5 days. Awesome.
"Poetry in the purest form over a BEP instrumental. My thoughts broken down in a symbolization regarding the things we’ve accomplished and things we have issues with. Enjoy."
"I decided to start off May by just putting some thoughts out for the fans. I’m working on a lot of things but sometimes it feels like I’m not doing anything. So to quench the thirst of the people, I will be releasing Fearless which is a first of 7 releases with streamless conscious flowing. Aka a freestyle that’s actually thought out and well written.
First one is my attempt at tackling Drake’s Fear. I called up a couple of my fans and let them hear the verse as well as even putting a conf call # out to cipher with them. I have a deep appreciation for my followers and I hope this accepted by them.
Released via Mickey's tumblr/soundcloud, this is what Factz had to say about this track:
"I did this remix for Hey Champ back in 2010. I really like this song. The flow I used on this inspired the flow for the Mona Lisa track I did on I’m Better Than You. This is one of my favorite features to be honest. Check those guys out & check back for a new song tomorrow!"
Spinning Around was initially called Life. I wanted to write about what was going on at the time. This was around 2009 I think I first recorded this. Precize made the beat and I wanted people to know more about what I was going through. The tone in my voice let’s you know its 2009 material but I decided to let the fans see that I was working diligently in 2009 & 2010 by giving you unreleased and unfinished music. This song didn’t have a chorus for awhile. So we sent it to Colin Munroe to try it out. It took some time to grow on me and now I love the record. This was on many of the tracklist’s for “The Achievement”. - Mickey Factz
Mickey Factz aka Mickey Williams Jr. is currently one of my favorite up and coming artists. The first piece of work I heard from Factz was his Heaven's Fallout mixtape. I remember the first time I heard it, I was at work assembling these weird desks, turned on the iPod and I was hooked. In all honesty, my desire to branch out and listen to more genres of music all started from when I heard Heaven's Fallout and I thought to myself, "all of this is hip hop." I mean, Factz was rapping over stuff no other rapper would even think twice to try to rap over AND he was killing it. Hell, the dude rapped over the Geico commercial jingle. Right now, Mickey Factz is working on a joint mixtape with Cory Gunz and he is also working on his album, The Achievement due out sometime next year. Until that comes out, here are all of Mickey Factz official mixtapes (minus Flashback Vol. 1). I've also uploaded individual tracks for you to sample and download from each mixtape.
