Sunni Colón - Crème De La Crème 神 Flowers

Back in June, I posted "Karma" from Sunni Colón and this month we get his first EP. Other than "Karma" of course, the standout track for me had to be "Crème De La Crème 神 Flowers". If I'm not mistaken, "Crème De La Crème" and "Flowers" are two separate songs that fit together too well not to link them together. At around the 3:24 mark, you'll get into "Flowers" and thats really where I knew I would be posting this song as the standout. The first track is great and definitely shows more of the RnB side of Sunni and then when you get to "Flowers" you're able to really see his versatility as an artist. St. Paul and the Broken Bones - Broken Bones and Pocket Change

I couldn't believe this track was made in this decade. St. Paul and the Broken Bones are a new Soul/Blues band from Birmingham, Alabama and I'll be damned if they're not the best Soul/Blues band I've ever heard. Granted, I haven't heard many but I know good music when I hear it. I was already sold on this band when I heard the first 4 bars. When the horns come in, you'll find yourself wanting nothing more than to see this band live. I know I do. If you'd like to purchase this track, just head over to their Bandcamp.

Robby Hunter Band - Treat You Right ft. GhostWridah

Be prepared to have a new favorite Soul/Funk/RnB artist. Robby Hunter Band is a new Miami based act that seems to embrace the vibe Mayer Hawthorne created and then really expands on it. They even enlist fellow Miami artist, GhostWridah (who's previously been featured on TOTR) and he definitely helps add a bit more flavor to an already delicious track. Tuxedo - Do It

It's definitely not every day that I hear a song with this much Funk. This track is everything you'd want out of a Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, Chromeo, and Mayer Hawthorne collaboration. That's saying something. I can't really find out much about these guys (or guy. Not really sure.) other than they are from the West Coast (of course!) and they have less than 500 followers on Twitter. What the hell is wrong with people. Check this track out and tell everybody you know that you just came across audio porn. Oh yea, and it's totally FREE to download.

Lorde - Tennis Court

More awesome music from New Zealand. This time it comes from 16 year old Lorde. Kind of hard to categorize what type of music it is, blending elements of RnB, Minimalism, and Pop, "Tennis Court" features production that sounds like an updated Sade while her vocals are pretty unique. Even minors in New Zealand are making better music than most in the states. Just sayin...

Denitia and Sene - the nude.

Another artist I was happy to continuing to put out awesome music was Sene. Aside from is sweet solo FreeLP (Reality Bites) and his collaborative effort (Recess), it would appear that Sene has been teaming up with Denitia to release "His and Hers". It's hard to believe that an artist with this much talent and this much range would still be so overlooked. I imagine that will all change this year if he keeps putting out music like this.

JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound - Rouse Yourself

I recently stumbled upon JC Brooks and the Uptown and what an awesome discovery that was. Their music kind of reminds me of Mayer Hawthorne in the sense that it's a very updated, up-beat, soul sound that you can't help but enjoy. Apparently, they've been making music for a while but it was "Rouse Yourself" off of their most recent release, "Howl" that first caught my attention. They've made the track available for FREE Download via soundcloud which is pretty awesome and if you'd like to check out the album, you can purchase it HERE.

Allen Stone - Unaware (Video)

Just went to Allen Stone's free show at The Book & Stage at The Cosmopolitan in Vegas. It was amazing. After the show, we got actually got to go kick it with Allen in his hotel room. Also, got a physical copy of his amazing self-titled album (which, for the record, he did NOT sell to me), currently only available on iTunes. You need to go make that purchase. For those of you who aren't familiar, check the video above from the Chewelah, WA soul/r&b singer. He's a cool dude to say the least.

Jose James - Trouble (AllSaints Basement Sessions) (Video)

Born and raised in Minneapolis, singer Jose James offers a soulful mixture of hip hop and modern jazz."Trouble" is his first single from his forthcoming 2012 album, "No Beginning, No End". Unfortunately, no free link for this one but you do get an awesome video.

Coeur De Pirate - Wicked Games (The Weeknd Cover)

I have to say, I had no idea what to expect when I say that 22 year-old Beatrice Martin covered one of my favorite (definitely top 3) songs from The Weeknd. She really does a breathtaking job of breaking down the song and giving it a chilling, raw sound. Backed by only a piano, Pirate Heart really does an amazing job of covering an amazing song.

Mike Posner - The Layover (Mixtape)

Mike Posner linked up with Don Cannon to bring you his 3rd mixtape installment. Another quality mixtape from Posner only further solidifies my opinion that his mixtapes are much, MUCH, better than his album material. This mixtape features him sampling Elton John's "Rocket Man", Oasis' "Wonderwall", The Knocks' "Blackout", Adele's "Rolling In The Deep", Coldplay's "The Scientist" (previously posted HERE), and I think theres even a James Blake track in there. In addition to the awesome covers, Posner also provides a healthy dose of original material. Guest appearances include: Big K.R.I.T., Bun B, Bei Maejor, Elzhi, CyHi Da Prynce, and more. *I know I usually only include 3 songs to stream but I had to add a 4th for this one. Jesse Boykins III - Way Of A Wayfarer (FreEP)

Jesse Boykins III first showed up on my radar when he was featured on Mickey Factz' Heaven's Fallout "mixtape" (quotations were necessary beacuse I feel like it was more of an LP but whatever). Since hearing him on "You Remind Me" I've been eagerly awaiting a solo project from him. Maybe he's dropped something since then, maybe not, but this is the first solo project I've seen him release. It's a short 6 track EP but it's a delightful 6 tracks. Think Andre 3000 on The Love Below, that's what it reminds me of. Well enough reading, go check it out.

Drake - Marvin's Room (Video x Audio)

To be honest, I refused to buy "Thank Me Later" because I felt like it was a far-cry from the Drake we knew from "So Far Gone". "Take Care" on the other hand seems like everything a Drake album should be. Drake is definitely at his best when making "indie hip hop". I couldn't think of a better way to characterize it. It breaks your typical song structure, there is rapping, singing, interludes, no catchy hook; Drake seems to be reverting back to making music as an art form instead of making commercial friendly music.

Cocaine 80's - The Pursuit EP

Chicago producer, No I.D., has recently taking the reigns as the "Chemist" for the collective known as Cocaine 80's. Information on the members is pretty scarce right now but the list includes: Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy, Makeba and many more. No I.D. has addressed the lack of information about the collective by stating, “Read The Credits and listen to the music and enjoy…”. FYI, Common totally killed "Summer Madness".

Cris Cab - Foreword (FreEP)

A couple of months I posted "Good Girls" and didn't really know what to expect from Cris Cab. He does an excellent job of blending genres and crossing over R&B, reggae, and ska. It all makes for a wonder 7 track EP that would be perfect for hanging out and doing nothing, and I love doing nothing.
