Olympic Ayres - Episode III EP

It's finally here! Olympic Ayres just released their Episode III EP. Joking referred to as "Revenge of the Synth" Olympic Ayres is quickly becoming one of the top tier Indie Pop bands. We got a preview last month with "Magic" and now we get the other two amazing tracks from Episode III. In my previous post I mentioned how all of this great music is coming from Australia or Sweden, well, Olympic Ayres...Sydney. Point! Sunni Colón - Crème De La Crème 神 Flowers

Back in June, I posted "Karma" from Sunni Colón and this month we get his first EP. Other than "Karma" of course, the standout track for me had to be "Crème De La Crème 神 Flowers". If I'm not mistaken, "Crème De La Crème" and "Flowers" are two separate songs that fit together too well not to link them together. At around the 3:24 mark, you'll get into "Flowers" and thats really where I knew I would be posting this song as the standout. The first track is great and definitely shows more of the RnB side of Sunni and then when you get to "Flowers" you're able to really see his versatility as an artist. Steffaloo - Covers (FreEP)

Stephanie Thompson, also known as Steffaloo, recently released her FreEP, Covers. This ep is filled with beautiful, lo-fi, Ukulele renditions of some pretty awesome songs. Covers really showcases Thompson's range as she effortlessly goes from covering Bright Eyes to Justin Timberlake, with every cover being injected with a dose of gleeful sincerity. I know, I know, "gleeful sincerity"? But trust me, there really isn't any other way for me to describe the sound. It just fits. Get off your high horse and stop judging me. What are you? A bunch of pretentious hipsters trying to find the next big..wait a minute...

Jesse Boykins III - Way Of A Wayfarer (FreEP)

Jesse Boykins III first showed up on my radar when he was featured on Mickey Factz' Heaven's Fallout "mixtape" (quotations were necessary beacuse I feel like it was more of an LP but whatever). Since hearing him on "You Remind Me" I've been eagerly awaiting a solo project from him. Maybe he's dropped something since then, maybe not, but this is the first solo project I've seen him release. It's a short 6 track EP but it's a delightful 6 tracks. Think Andre 3000 on The Love Below, that's what it reminds me of. Well enough reading, go check it out.

Chicago producer, No I.D., has recently taking the reigns as the "Chemist" for the collective known as Cocaine 80's. Information on the members is pretty scarce right now but the list includes: Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy, Makeba and many more. No I.D. has addressed the lack of information about the collective by stating, “Read The Credits and listen to the music and enjoy…”. FYI, Common totally killed "Summer Madness".

Back in January, Joywave released their first song, "Golden State". It didn't take long for that track to start garnering them plenty of much deserved attention. Then in March, they released this 77777 mixtape which gave everybody a FREE taste of what's to come from this Electronic/Indie Pop band from Rochester, NY. I really like their ability to successfully blend Indie Pop and Electronic music without going too far into any one genre. TOTR will definitely be keeping an eye on any future releases from Joywave. A couple of months I posted "Good Girls" and didn't really know what to expect from Cris Cab. He does an excellent job of blending genres and crossing over R&B, reggae, and ska. It all makes for a wonder 7 track EP that would be perfect for hanging out and doing nothing, and I love doing nothing.

Prior to House Of Balloons, The Weeknd was apart of the writing/production team known as The Noise. Here is his 7 track EP from when he was apart of The Noise. The track "Birthday Suit" is the same track you know from Drake. The Noise wrote and produced that track as well. None of these songs really sound like The Weeknd but I think it's because these songs were typically being written for other people.
