Born and raised in Michigan, Andrew Cohen, better known as Mayer Hawthorne (Hawthorne was the road he lived on as a kid), describes his style of music as,"Green-Eyed Soul". Not only does he sing, but he also writes and produces his music. After moving to L.A. to pursue a music career, Hawthorne was eventually signed by the beloved Stone Throw Records label. It was there that he released his debut single, "Just Ain't Gonna Work Out"/"When I Said Goodbye", on a red heart-shaped 7" record in 2008. 2009 saw the release of his 1st LP, "A Strange Arrangement". Here are videos and other tracks as well that are not only just delightful (yea, I said "delightful") but also conjure up a bit of nostalgia from soul music's yesteryears. Also, I've included his remix to Snoop Dogg's - Gangsta Luv.
